Spotlight on... Emmitt!!

I'm starting this year off badly, already missing Teamwork Tuesday posts!! But, since I'm here... let me tell you about what we're doing differently this year.

This year, we're going to focus on one disability or condition each month.  I tried to schedule them during awareness months, but I couldn't for everything, so we just did our best. :)  This month's focus is on Spina Bifida, so with that in mind, may I introduce you to...

Isn't he a doll???  I just love those eyes!!  Emmitt turns 15 this month, which makes it CRITICAL that he get adopted soon.  When he turns 16, he's no longer eligible for adoption.  :'(  Here is what his Reece's Rainbow page says about him:

Boy, Born January 26, 1998
Emmitt is a sweet boy.  He is living in one of the mental institutions, and has been for many years, yet he remains sweet, intelligent, and kind.  Ttwo of our adopting families met him while they were there, and are pleading for a family to save him.     From his medical records:  myelomeningocele  (spina bifida)   From one of our adoptive families:  ” Emmitt has a severe deformity of his legs.  He cannot walk at all.  He is very friendly, funny, and talkative. He desperately seeks out attention.  He was talking to my husband, and holding Zack’s hand, which he then put on top of his head for Zack to rub his hair.  He is extremely intelligent, and just precious!  I brought him paper and crayons, and he drew me a flower :) ”
We are seeking more official medical information about his condition, but hope someone out there will see this sweet young man and know his kind and loving spirit.

Emmitt has a wonderful Warrior who would love for you to visit her blog at The Scenic Route, and learn more about all of the great advocating she does!  Emmitt also has quite the grant-- over $3,800!!  But, it's not enough to get him home on.

So, I'm asking for the New Year that you commit to praying for these kids with us.  Donate to them, share them, and pray for their forever families and caregivers.  One week at a time-- this week, please pray for Emmitt, and help us get him home!!
